The data management team is tasked with maintaining the integrity of the data collected during these trials while bio-statisticians primarily analyze the data as per the statistical analysis plan using various statistical analysis tools. Clinical Data Manager

A Clinical Data Manager performs some crucial functions during the set-up of a new clinical study. From early-on a data managers' advise is sought on how trial data should be collected, managed and analyzed. The Clinical Data Manager has to process all data by using a variety of computer applications and a database system. He/she makes sure that the data is complete, accurate and free of any errors, in order to be analyzed and reported to the regulatory authorities. For successful clinical trial management it is important that the data processing and analysis are performed equally well. Clinical Data Associates and Coordinators are required to deliver high quality results to the sponsors and any internal business units, in order to ensure the success and growth of the department and the company. Some of the responsibilities of the Clinical Data Manager include:

  • Development of a Data Management Plan for each study
  • Development and management of various documents, data tables etc
  • Setting up of data management tools to be used in the study and to perform test data entry to ensure that the system is ready for use and free of any technical/coding errors
  • Coordinate with site staff and CRAs for ensuring the collection of data
  • Management of projects and meeting established timelines
  • Preparation of statistical information and problem solving

  • Competencies & Skills

    - Good understanding of clinical trials with knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines
    - Knowledge of country specific clinical trial guidelines and regulations
    - Good written and oral communication skills
    - Ability to work independently and in a team
    - Eye for detail

    Education:

    - A Degree in Mathematics, Life sciences, Computer Sciences or other relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
    - Training / Certification in Clinical Trials or Clinical Data Management / Oracle Clinical Software is highly recommended
    - Basic to Intermediate understanding of programs like Oracle, SAS, MS Power Point, MS Word, and MS Access required
